Brian Clay Collins, FASID, is a Fellow of the American Society of Interior Designers, a distinction shared by just two others in Michigan and about 200 nationwide. This highest level of membership is achieved by nomination and judged based on professional experience and contributions to the society and the community at large. In 2006, Brian established his independent practice, Brian Clay Collins Designs, LLC in Grosse Pointe after a long and distinguished career in the Interior Design Studios of Hudson’s and Marshall Field’s. He maintains a large clientele throughout the Midwestern States as well as Pennsylvania, Florida and Arizona. Brian’s work can be described as classic, not faddish or trendy, and will age well. He enjoys the unexpected and feels that “it’s the mix that makes it memorable”.
Through the years Brian has participated in many designer show houses for the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Volunteer Council and the Detroit Jr. League. His work has been seen widely in local, regional and national media, in ‘coffee table’ design books and on HGTV. Additional volunteer activities center around the preservation and adaptive reuse of the historic buildings on the campus of the Bay View Association of the United Methodist Church located on Little Traverse Bay near Petoskey, MI. Founded in 1875 as a Chautauqua community, Bay View is a national historic landmark incorporating some 450 summer homes built between its founding and the 1920’s.
Favorite ‘downtime’ pursuits include recreational reading in a comfortable chair with a water view while listening to good music and the crackle of flames in the grate.
